Article I. Association Name
Wilkes University Master of Business Administration Association
Article II. Membership
Membership is open to all Wilkes University students
and graduates, regardless of academic major, residence, race, age, sex,
ethnic background, gender, religious affiliation or sexual orientation.
Article III. Purpose
1. Provide an opportunity for students to experience,
develop, and apply knowledge and practices related to the business disciplines.
2. Create a forum for the dissemination of information
related to the Wilkes MBA program.
3. Provide students the opportunity to network
with other students, faculty, and practitioners in their own and other
majors.
4. Support and participate in university and
community-sponsored service activities.
5. Organize and coordinate opportunities for
interaction among graduate business students.
6. Present MBA student perspective to the Wilkes
faculty and administration
Article IV. Officers & Duties
The term of office for all officers is July 1
through June 30 of the year immediately following their election.
President - Schedule meetings, chair
meetings, represent the association at student government functions.
Vice-President - Stand-in for the president
when he/she is unavailable or unable to perform.
Secretary - Take minutes at all association
meetings, compose all necessary correspondence, record nominations for
office, conduct elections, advertise meetings and events, record proposed
constitutional amendments and conduct all related procedural activities.
Treasurer - Oversee all financial activities,
records, properties and monies, and interact with financial records office.
Prepare and deliver treasurer's report monthly to association membership.
Any officer, if charged to do so by association
members, may represent the association at any university or student government
activity.
Every officer must maintain contact with, and
periodically report to, the faculty advisor.
Article V. Elections & Voting Eligibility
Elections will be conducted annually in the first
week of March. Nominations for officers are restricted to students not
in their final year of study at Wilkes University. Such students must be
members of this association and in good standing. Any current association
member in good standing may make nominations for officers. "Good standing"
means attendance at 50% of association meetings in the Fall semester of
the current year, and participation in association activities and service
events in that same semester.
Voting rights are restricted to those student
members in "good standing," and pertain to all voting issues, including
officer elections and any activity, scheduling, or related topics.
Article VI. Replacement of Officers
In the event an officer fails to perform his/her
duties satisfactorily, he/she may be removed from office. This shall take
place at a meeting of the association in which a quorum (more than one-half
of the membership) is present after a motion to do so by a member in good
standing is seconded, and then approved by two-thirds majority of all Association
members in present.
In the event of removal from office or resignation
by the president, the vice-president will succeed the president. For any
other officer, the remaining officers will select and appoint a member
in good standing to fulfill the remainder of the term.
Article VII. Amendments
Amendments to this constitution may be proposed
by any member in good standing at any official meeting of the association.
Upon seconding, such proposal will be scheduled for discussion at the two
succeeding association meetings, after which the secretary will conduct
a vote of all members in good standing. Approval requires a two-thirds
majority vote. If approved, the amendment(s) will take effect the first
day of the following calendar month. All amendments are subject to the
re-approval of the Wilkes University Student Government.
