About CFC

Christian Fellowship Club is a Cross-centered, Wilkes University student led ministry.  The club exists to provide a comfortable learning atmosphere for those seeking the faith of Christianity, and also for those looking to strengthen their walk with Christ.  Originally the club was founded on the purpose of keeping our perspectives on Christ, while we endure the ups and downs of the student life.  Now a few years in, CFC is continually growing in number and in spiritual maturity.  The cross and resurrection of Jesus Christ stands as the foundation of who we are.  We uphold the Bible as infoulable, and the only true Word to live by.

We meet regularly twice a week on Tuesdays at 12:00pm in Dorothy Dixon Darte Center's Geis Hall, and on Thursdays at 9:00pm in Kirby hall's Salon room.

  • Tuesday's meeting usually follows along a specific study.  Past semesters have included studies such as the book of Acts, Romans, and John.  Recently, we've been doing 'mini-series' studies on tough topics like "The Roller coaster of spirituality: A look at David's ups and downs."
  • Thursday meetings can be any random Biblical topic that is on the heart of the message leader.  The opportunity exists for any member (someone who attends at least 1 meeting) of the club to lead a discussion on a Biblical topic. Recent studies include "Maximizing our time for God in College," "Filtering the mind's thoughts for purity," and "Witnessing: According to the Gospel."
  • Sunday brings several different CFC members together to attend different local churches.  Quite a bit of students attend the Dallas Evangelical Free church in Dallas, PA (about 10 minute drive) regularly.  Other students find it more convenient to walk to the First Baptist Church on River street.  Also about once a month the group heads up to Parker Hill Church in Clark's Summit, PA for their Saturday night service.  Free transportation is always provided by club members, and service times are as follows:
  1.  Dallas Evangelical Free---9:00AM (meet at 1st floor of SUB at 8:30am)
  2.  First Baptist Church on River St------11:00AM (walk from campus)
  3.  Parker Hill Church----------6:00PM on Saturday (scheduled weekends)
Christian Fellowship Club also runs and participates in several events each semester.  The past has yielded such events as Christian rock concerts: Casting Crowns, Mercy Me, Newsboys, Shane and Shane, David Crowder and the Creation Festival in June.  Each semester has different themed CFC activities such as the Corn Maze and Christian Halloween Mash Party in October, and the annual Winter Worship Concert night in March.  Other continuous activities include Rickett's Glenn hikes, CFC Bible trivia nights, Christian Movie nights: The Passion of the Christ, The Nativity Story, The left Behind Series, etc. Some community service events include Christmas caroling at the Heritage House and volunteering at the soup kitchen.  Retreats such as a Hershey Park getaway and Wilkes/Kings Faith retreat at Bear Creek have been incredible spiritual exercises.  Remaining God-centered activities include Dodgeball and Kickball game nights and 'See you at the Pole' events.

Every CFC event, whether outreach or just clean fun, is opened and closed in prayer.  It is our hope that the events bring the group closer to Christ, and help to make a positive impact for God's kingdom.  Specific events are also considered outreach to the student body that is unfamiliar with why we do what we do, that is to Glorify God our creator and honor our savior Jesus Christ.

As with any event in Christian Fellowship Club, come and go as you please!  Being a student led ministry, we know the terrible feeling of being overwhelmed; so there is a no obligation policy.  We consider it like a season pass:  pick and chose the events and meetings you want to come to.  However keep in mind that we would love to see you there working together as the Body of Christ!

Mathew 13: 3-9 The Parable of the Sower
"Then he told them many things in parables, saying. "A farmer went out to sow his  seed.  As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path, and the birds came and ate it up.  Some fell on rocky places, where it did not have much soil.  It sprang up quickly, because the soil was shallow.  But when the sun came up, the plants were scorched, and they withered because they had no root.  Other seed fell among thorns, which grew up and choked the plants.  Still other seed fell on a good soil, where it produced a crop--a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown.  He who has ears, let him hear."
