Week 1: The Real Satan
The Real Satan Mini-Series Week 1 (Tuesday
3-11-08) Who is this Devil? Satan is real! Refered to as Satan, Devil, Lucifer, The
Serpent, The Evil one, The Dragon, The Prince of Ruler (rules the earth), The
God of this world, The Prince of the Power of the Air, The Accuser of the
Brethren, The tempter, Belial, Beelzebul, Apollyon (destroyer), The Proud One,
The Father of Lies, A False Angel of Light
Don't overlook Satan in your walk with Christ,
recognize his presence and be aware and watchful for his deceitfulness Start with explaining the relationship of God,
Satan, and the Angels and demons. Make a
point to stress that Satan is under God's power, and thus is not equally
opposite of him.
Satan attacks us to get to God. Nothing he can
do to God will help his rebellion, except for ruining our faith in Him. This is a lot like a tough father that is
only scared when his kids are under persecution. He doesn't care about himself (nor should he
be) but he cares about his kids. Satan
knows this, and desires us to be separate from God.
The Devil is responsible for the sin of the
world, starting with the Garden of Eden up until Christ comes back, then he has
7 years until he ultimately loses the war.
God ordains the Devil's work...tricky topic, but
its too true to ignore Job 1:6-12 and Luke 22: 31-32
Where did he come from? Heaven, not sure why he fell--Luke 10:18-20 Possible jealousy because he was a leader in
heaven Ezekiel 28:12-19
He was persuasive enough to convince 1/3 of
heaven to join his rebellion, he was probably the leader of the
Angels..Revelation 12:4
What does he do? He prowls the earth looking for children under
God (everyone) to bring them away from the faith of Christ. 1 Peter 5:8-14
Tempts believers to drift from their faith, and
overshadows non-believer
so that they will not see the truth as it really is How does he work? Adam and Eve, Genesis 3:1-7...wicked deceitfulnesses, isn't too obvious with his tempting, but alters the word of God
and tells us its ok.
Crafty, He knows his scripture...Mathew 4:1-11 He
doesn't just tempt Jesus with earthly desires (eating), he hits home right at
Jesus' desire to feed the hungry and save the world. What Should we do? Be watchful!
Pray for discernment with situations of knowing
God's will and Satan's desire, and the difference between them
Don't ignore Satan's presence in our churches
and fellowship groups Leave today knowing that Satan is real, but God
sent his one and only Son to pay the price for our sins.
SATAN ALREADY LOST THE WAR
