New Business

1. New Food Service Providers: Dierdre Kennedy, from Sedexho was here to hear our suggestions. Also, there will be a food committee meeting next Tuesday at 11am. Concerns were raised that the cafeteria is not commuter friendly, the soda line is too long, specialty items and drinks running out, not enough seating in the dining area, and that there is little variety at the grill. Positive comments included that residents like the ¡†all you can eat¡Ö plan, and that they enjoy the vegetarian options. Sedexho is looking to add a new service area to the dining room to alleviate the drink line. They are also looking to put it in an area that would not take away from seating. They area trying to get a feel for the level of participation in the dining service, which will give them an idea on what they need to step up. The menu at the grill is currently standardized, but may be changing. The size of the dining room limits the amount of seating available, but there are some possibilities to add a few more tables. Deirdre also added that the cafeteria is open from 7am until midnight, and meal plans can be used on an unlimited basis during that time period. Commuter meal plans are in the works, and hopefully information will be sent out next week. The menu for the Rifkin Caf¨œ is set for now, but may change based on demand.

2. Homecoming: Will be held October 4th. The theme will be ¡†School Spirit¡Ö. There is a possibility to do events every night through Homecoming week, if people are willing to chair. Kelly volunteered to chair the Pep Rally. Juniors volunteered for Wednesday night, with the idea of Winter Weekend-like activities. Seniors volunteered for Monday, and Sophomores for Tuesday. Presidents of each class should check in with Elise.

3. Retreat Review: Service budget for SG vans: Currently there is no maintenance budget for the vans. Julia made a motion for $500. Al seconded. The motion passed 17-0-0. Office/Credit hours: SG members need 15 credit hours for the semester. A proposal was made for the office to be open every Monday and Wednesday from 10-2. Each class and exec board will rotate weeks, with exec board starting next week. There is an incentive for the general board member with the most hours at the end of the semester.

Getting SG out in the Wilkes Community:
*Radio Show: SG could possibly do a radio show to answer questions.
*SG on the Road¡Ö ¡Ì TV studio and dorms: Some people feel that the TV studio is under utilized, so there is a possibility of meetings being taped, or SG going to the studio. Also, there was an idea to take SG meetings into the dorms.

Investment Committee: Last year the investment committee never really happened. Should we try it again? Concerns raised were that we would be using the student¡Ùs money and we should not try again, and that the money could be used for other things. Liz made a motion to table the discussion until the freshmen are elected. Mudd seconded.
Communication with other clubs: An idea was brought up to increase communication with other clubs on campus. Once a month a representative from each club would meet with a member of exec board to share ideas. This would also give SG an idea of what other clubs are planning, and if they will be making fund requests.

4. Programming Board Financial Plans for the Year: Plans include centering activities around what the students want. Concerts will be held in the ballroom and at the stage at the Rifkin Caf¨œ. This will allow more concerts to be held. Programming Board will be using the survey system to determine what the students want.

5. Downtown Initiative: Meetings will be held once a month to discuss ideas for the downtown area with other students and local business people. 4-6 Wilkes students are needed to participate. Also, applications for Intercollegiate Leadership Wilkes-Barre are available. There are seven spots open.

6. Assistant Activities position approved: A new job description was approved, and Margie has become the Assistant of Student Activities and advisor of the year book. Upcoming projects include moving Amnicola to the Student Center and staffing the information desk from 9am-9pm.

7. Club Day: Will be held Thursday, September 11th, from 11am-1pm. SG members will be sitting at the table and handing out pens and brochures. The set up will be different to get students in the center of the Greenway, rather than around. Different food will also be offered. The unveiling of the new Colonel will also take place. At 4:30 there will be a service for victims of September 11th.

8. Internet Update: Dr.Sullivan is hoping to pinpoint computers with the virus and help fix them. RA¡Ùs have disks to fix the virus. A comment was made that the Help Desk disconnected rooms with the virus, but did not tell the students.
