New Business

1) SAM Club Fund Request: The Society for the Advancement of Management (SAM) will be attending a case competition March 18th- 21st. They are asking for $1500 to help cover the costs of registration. 12 members will be attending the competition. This is usually the only competition they attend, unless any of the members get elected to a national board. They will be coming back next week for a vote on the request.
2) Speech and Debate Club 2nd Reading Fund Request: The club came in to answer questions from the general board. They do an annual high school speech and debate competition as a fundraiser in the fall, and they are currently working on another fund raiser. They have put in a fund request to Dean Fields for their remaining district and state competitions. Rob made a motion to give the $1373 and Andrew seconded. Motion passed 19-0-8.
3) Budget Update: The Vice Presidents of Student Affairs, Enrollment, and Finance came in to give an update on the budget and tuition. They have come up with a 4% increase. This percentage is less than in past years (which were as high as almost 5%). This is mainly because Wilkes is a tuition-dependent institution. Approximately 93% of the University‚s revenue comes from student tuition and housing expenses.
4) „Vagina Monologues‰ Donation Request: The „Vagina Monologues‰ is a play to raise awareness about women‚s issues and funds for local women‚s charities. Their goal is to raise $6000 from the performance. Andrew made a motion to donate $5 for every Wilkes student who attends the performance, to allow students to go for free, and Mudd seconded. Motion passed 22-2-1.
5) Community Service: If you would like to volunteer at the CEO next Saturday from 9-2, please sign the sign-up sheet.
